McGinley Dynamic

MCGINLEY

A self-adjusting moving average that tracks price faster during rallies and slower during declines by dividing the lag correction by the ratio (price/MA)⁴. It avoids whipsaws from market speed changes.

Tips

McGinley clings to price in fast moves and resists it in slow ones — use it as an adaptive support/resistance level
Because it self-calibrates, the same period works across different assets and timeframes better than a fixed EMA
