Price Momentum

MOM

Calculates the raw difference between the current close and the close N bars ago. Positive values mean price is higher than it was N periods ago; negative values mean lower. It is the simplest form of momentum measurement.

Tips

Momentum is the raw building block for ROC; use ROC when comparing across instruments, Momentum when you only need direction
A momentum zero-line cross combined with a price breakout from consolidation is a clean, low-noise entry signal
