Relative Vigor Index

RVI

Measures the tendency of prices to close higher than they open, normalized by the high-low range and symmetrically smoothed across four bars. High values indicate bullish vigor (closes near highs); low values indicate bearish vigor (closes near lows).

Tips

RVI is most effective in trending markets; in choppy conditions the open-close ratio loses meaning and produces noisy signals
RVI crossing its signal line (4-bar symmetric WMA of RVI) from below during an uptrend is the classical entry trigger
